WFPD will be taking place during the International Organization of Securities Commissions’ (IOSCO) World Investor Week (#WIW2018).
The FPSB launched WFPD in 2017 as part of an initiative to increase consumers’ level of financial literacy, capability, and to help consumers understand the value of financial planning, as well as make investment choices within the context of financial and life goals.
During WFPD, the FPSB and its network of member organisations representing a global community of over 170,000 CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professionals will provide programs to promote consumer awareness and understanding of financial planning topics including debt management; preparing for an unexpected financial emergency; home ownership; building savings; investment planning; and preparing for retirement.
Jacqueline Lockie CFPTM Chartered FCSI, CISI head of financial planning, said: “WFPD is an important date in our calendar where we come together with fellow financial planners across the globe to demonstrate the benefits of financial planning as one voice. Financial planning can benefit everyone by helping us see how our array of investments, pensions and savings can work for us to achieve what we want from life by planning well to live well."
UK consumers can find a local CFP professional or Accredited Financial Planning Firm™, view tips and tools and learn more about how true financial planning can be a life-changing experience at cisi.org/fpweek.
The CISI will be encouraging its financial planning members to support the event on 3 October by:
- Sharing articles and blogs: CFP professionals will serve as subject-matter experts on financial topics in various media publications.
- Showing their support for the campaign by sharing financial planning tips and best practice on social mediausing #WFPD.
The CISI is the marks licensing authority for the CFP marks in the UK, through agreement with the FPSB.
The CISI will join members of the FPSB network, which includes over 170,000 CFP professionals, in providing content, free surgeries, programmes and events to promote the value of financial planning amongst consumers. Content and events surrounding the day will focus on a range of topics including saving, retirement, debt management and home management.
