Mike entertained an audience of 60 guests with a Derren Brown-style mind-reading/comedy set. He's most recognised for presenting on The Big Breakfast, where he would wake up the nation - knocking on punters' doors and interviewing some of the biggest stars.

Guests contributed a total of £732 towards CLIC Sargent, a UK cancer charity for children, young people, and their families, providing specialist support from diagnosis onwards, and aims to help the whole family deal with the impact of cancer and its treatment, life after treatment and, in some cases, bereavement.

CISI East Midlands branch president David Spokes, Chartered FCSI, said: "On Halloween, the CISI East Midlands Branch dinner took place at the Nottingham Conference, but there was nothing scary about the evening (apart from some of the jokes!). The dinner was an opportunity for members from all across the East Midlands to celebrate the achievements of member firms over the year. Anyone who was a breakfast TV viewer in the 90s will be familiar with our guest speaker. Let’s just say breakfast TV presenters in the 90s were a little more risqué."

Some of the top table guests were: David Spokes, Chartered FCSI, president, CISI East Midlands & Lincoln Branch; Stephen Foulkes, chairman, East Midlands Branch, Chartered Institute of Taxation; Christine Turner, president, ICAEW Nottingham, Derby, Lincoln; Holly Eyre, fundraising engagement manager, CLIC Sargent; Jim Winter ACSI, CISI assistant director, UK Business Development; Matthew Simmons, CISI client relationship manager; Helen Wilcox, vice president, East Midlands Branch Chartered Insurance Institute; and Jake Mann, process manager, GP3 Financial Solutions.

The sponsors for this event were M&G, Montanaro Asset Management, First Trust and BNY Mellon, without whom it would not have been possible. If you would like to support future dinners, please contact nikki.macmillan@cisi.org.
