Global Money Week, running from 12 to 18 March, is part of a global money awareness campaign
Visit Global Money Week and share how you are helping kids learn about money and save from an early ageCountries from every continent are participating in Global Money Week to raise awareness of the importance of financial education and financial inclusion for children and youth, with the overall coordination of the week being led by Child & Youth Finance International, a non-profit organisation based in Amsterdam.
This global movement has already gathered the support of some of the most prominent leaders and organisations across the world, including the former Secretary-General of the UN, Ban-Ki moon.
These international celebrations are carried out to promote the importance of financial rights, especially for children and youth. Today, less than 1% of all children in the world have access to financial education and inclusion, and one billion children live in poverty. Financial illiteracy results in many young people struggling with large amounts of debt, which results in negative repercussions on their development and well-being.
With financial access and financial education, children and youth can learn to save and spend money responsibly.
The CISI will be joining in on the campaign by sharing tips, resources and tricks to help teach children the importance of saving at an early age - download the CISI's #Griffthegriffin money box here.
