Footy fan favourites and more at annual dinner

Guests at the CISI Liverpool, Chester & North Wales branch annual dinner contributed around £3,305 (excluding gift aid) to KIND Children's charity, thanks to two forms of fundraising: an auction and a raffle

Lucy Porter, comedian, was guest speaker at the event, held on Thursday 4 May 2017 at the Titanic Hotel, Liverpool. She kept the audience of 166 entertained with tales of motherhood and family life.

The event was the most successful to date for the branch, thanks to some special items at the live auction, including a signed Everton shirt; a Noel Gallagher signed guitar; a signed and framed Wayne Rooney England shirt; Borussia Dortmund Marco Reus signed and framed shirt; a signed and framed Kaiser Chiefs poster and a hand-painted Beatles poster.

Guests also participated in a gift aid raffle for multiple prizes, including a meal for two at the Neighbourhood Restaurant, tickets for the Philharmonic, overnight stay at the Titanic Hotel, a half-day pamper package at the Titanic Hotel, overnight stay at the Courthouse Hotel, London and an Apple Watch.

Kind Children's charity works with some of the most disadvantaged and deprived children and families from within the Liverpool city region.

Branch president James Charleton, Chartered FCSI said: “The event was well attended and it gave the local committee an opportunity to showcase the great educational work we are doing in the region. Our members enjoyed a stand-up set from feel-good comic Lucy Porter before the evening drew to a close. It was a great success thanks to the efforts of the CISI team.”

Some of the top table guests were: Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Meyerside, David McDonnell CBE; deputy president of Chartered Insurance Institute Liverpool, Carly Dunningham; chairman of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, Michael Spencer; head of economics at Merchant Taylors' Boys' School, Steven Kay, president of Liverpool Law Society, John Ballam; and the CISI global director of finance, Colin Warner.

The sponsors for this event were First Trust Global Portfolios, G|A|M, Legal & General Investment Management, NATIXIS Global Asset Management and Unicorn Asset Management, without whom it would not have been possible.
