Sky News Ireland correspondent David Blevins was guest speaker at the event, held on 22 February 2018 at the Belfast Harbour Commissioner’s Office
David shared highlights from his fascinating 23-year career at Sky News, from the height of the Troubles in Northern Ireland to peacetime Ireland. He spoke of interviews with American presidents, British and Irish prime ministers, and shared many anecdotes about the world of politics.
Around 80 guests contributed £890 in aid of Northern Ireland Hospice, which is a local charity offering specialist respite, symptom management, and palliative care to over 3,500 babies, children and adults each year across Northern Ireland.
CISI Northern Ireland branch president John Cubitt, Chartered FCSI said: “My fellow members enjoyed the excellent meal provided and very much appreciated the insightful presentation and anecdotes by David. Members particularly enjoyed the opportunity to interact with David in a question and answer session following his talk.”
Apart from David and John, the top table guests were: Gillian Anderson, agent, Northern Ireland branch of Bank of England; Richard Bennett, regional director, Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment; Jackie McCoy, associate dean of global engagement, Ulster University Business School; Jonathan Lamberton, charity representative, Northern Ireland Children's Hospice; and Arleen Elliot, past president, The Law Society of Northern Ireland.
